Director of Organising Lee Cash
"It's a real privilege to be given the opportunity to build on the organising department's excellent work and innovative approach to organising workers. I'm extremely excited at the challenges and opportunities we have before us going into 2008. We will continue to organise workers in emerging sectors.
As director of organising, Lee has a team of TUC accredited organiser who identify areas of growth and work to bring union values to new workplaces.
Director of Region 1 & 2 Heather Meldrum
Heather is the new Regional Director for Scotland, Northern Ireland and North East England.
A veteran of the Organising Academy, Heather knows this union inside and out. In January 2007, Heather was seconded to the project group which examined the union to look for room to improve. This formed the basis for Project Olympus.
"I want to know that the union is working not only in the workplace, but in the community too. I want to make contact with local voluntary organisations and with othe rgroups who share our valuesso we can work together in real partnership."
Director of Region 3 & 7 Steve Stacey
Steve Stacey is the new Regional Director for Yorkshire and Humberside, North West England and North Wales.
Steve is determined to reach out to young people. For many years he has gone to high schools and colleges to tell young people of the benefits of being in a union.
"It's hard work getting them to see past strikes to all the other productive things that unions can do. But young people today are more aware of issues like the environment and they are suprised to see how Community is getting involved there."
Director of Region 4 & 5 Jenny Smith
Jenny Smith is the new Regional Director for the West Midlands, South Wales and the South West of England.
Although new to Community, Jenny has a long history of involvement with the Union movement and the Labour party.
Her first priority is to meet her members and gather their opinions.
"The challenge now is to bring everyone together to implement our growth strategy. I want to raise Community's profile and let everyone know the great work that we do.
Director of Region 6 &8 Christine Hardacre
Christine Hardacre is the new Regional Director for the East Midlands, London and the South East of England.
A ten year veteran of Community, Christine is excited about her new role.
"It's a responsibility I take very seriously. I'll be working with membership liason managers and support staff. Union activists will also play a very importnat part in the unions development."
"Infact I want to encourage all members to become as active as they want to be. "
