So at around 15:40 Motion 12 Rail Transport for Blind and Partially Sighted People was moved by Andy Laing and seconded by Tom Donnelly.

The motion was accepted by conference.

Vice President Gareth Davies is in the chair and makes some opening remarks.

During lunch there is a fring meeting on Domestic Violence being chaired by Harry Lyons, ex-General Secretary. Speakers include Nirmanda Thiranagama, TUC Policy officer.


12:30 Conference breaks for lunch until 2.


The activist award is presented to Brian Silver.

The Organiser award is given to James Beadle, but the award is being colected by John Formstone.

The Lifelong learning award goes to Bob Hudson.

The Branch Officer award goes to Calvin Evans.

The Young Member award goes to Robin Glen.

12:17 Keren announces a number of awards to Community members to be presented by Brendan Barber.


12:05 Brendan Barber, General secretary of the TUC was invited to address the conference.

11:55 Motion 11 - Bullying and Harassment at the workplace was moved by Tom Donnelly and Seconded by Jim Friel.


11:20 Conference resumes with an extended debate on bullying and harassment. The debate is chaired by Rob Sneddon, Community's Health & Safety Officer.

Also participating are Matt Witheridge, Executive Director of the Andrea Adams Trust and Paul Pearson, Director UK Leather federation.

The presentation includes a video from the Andrea Adams Trust.

 


Okay. What I missed was Motion 9 - Shift working and occupational pensions. It was moved by Rob Middlemas and seconded by Bob Hudson.

The NEC respons was delivered by Sue Mathers, and the motion was passed.

Conference was opened by 9:30 a.m. by President Keren Bender.

Delegates enter the hall to the music of a choir of school children from Linwood school and Bethany Church of England school.
