Community has begun organising the next round of negotiations on pay and conditions
Community has begun organizing the next round of negotiations on pay and conditions.
The Strip PJC and the long products BJC committees, after much consultation and discussion, have developed an agenda to put forward to Corus.
The proposals include pay increases in real terms and relief for those on the Minimum Earning Limit (MEL).
An above the rate of inflation pay increase will be just one part of the claim.
Community will be seeking to have family friendly policies implemented as well as examining the feasibility of a number of long term benefits for Corus employees.
Community will keep members informed when these claims are presented to Corus management.
These negotiations will affect all Corus employees within the strip and long products portfolios as there has been an agreement by the Union delegates to put the case to Corus for the consideration of a joint claim.
Community delegates in Engineering Steels, Distribution and all other Corus businesses are also preparing to present their pay claims, as for the first time in many years the anniversary date is now the same (April) for all businesses, following an initiative taken by Community 18 months ago to align all pay claim dates.
This will help us to address issues that affect all of our members within Corus across all businesses.
Community members interested in the upcoming negotiations should speak to their branch officials or visit the Community website for regular updates.
