Community understands that work in the 21st century has been transformed. Work now requires longer hours for less pay and less job security and where small changes in take home pay can have big consequences for the family budget.
To adapt to this new world of work, a new type of Trade Union is needed. One that is designed to protect workers rights and entitlements in the workplace while building stronger communities and involving local neighbourhoods.
We call this approach Community Unionism, and it is the foundation of our success.
Born in 2004, Community is a diverse union that proves that we are ‘Stronger Together’. Uniting workers across Britain, Community works to improve and protect the pay and working conditions of all members. Community also provides training to guarantee safe workplaces and offers opportunities for new skills.

In the Community
Communitas is a company owned by Community which operate Learning centres in our member’s communities. These centres give our members and their families opportunities for education and training.
Community also encourage members to remain in the organisation when they retire. This allows retired members to retain access to all the benefits and services of Community at a reduced rate.
